The other knock on the Amiga 1000 was that its operating system wasn’t all that stable. Macs didn’t get full pre-emptive multitasking until 1999, with the first release of OS X. The Amiga appeared ten years and a month earlier.This makes is somekind of special because now everyone is able to install the OS without mounting a CD-Rom Drive to the Amiga.
The relatively powerful processor and ability to access several megabytes of memory led to the development of several 3D rendering packages, including LightWave 3D and Aladdin 4D.
